The Ma-I Space was founded by people who discovered within them, the gift of healing the self and others. The dream was to share this gift to anyone in the city who wants to discover their own relationship with their self as healing agents within their own communities. Simply put, the Ma-I Space is our outer collective manifestation of our Inner "I Am" Space. Here is where people can take the time out from the busy-ness of Manila to identify with their infinitely complex and mysterious inner dimensions. The word Ma-I is derived from the ancient name of the Philippine Islands, which connotes a return to the Filipino's indigenous resonance with the natural self, a self that has the mental capacity to free itself of inhibitions, woundedness, and mental distress. Despite our adherence to the Filipino resonance, we believe in the universality of energy and that many paths can lead to the one source. We hold weekly and monthly sessions on yoga, tai chi, crafts from tribal roots, intuitive massage, Kalipimu Inner Dance Healing, Kali/Arnis, inner music, and host meditation sits for Vipassana practitioners. Over time, we have come to appreciate the community that gathers regularly to simply share their energies and to find with us, restfulness. Our teachers aren't teachers, they aren't gurus. All those who facilitate sessions and workshops are simply co-journeyers who are like everyone else, finding creative means to go beyond merely coping with city life, but to thrive in it and be happily abundant and joyful. Our community is networked with other sacred spaces in more pristine parts of the Philippines as well as individuals and groups from around the world, where you can later visit as you come to know your many Ma-I personas. We are also beginning to display art pieces inspired by people's spiritual journeys, come and bring your works if you want us to share them with others.
